Ask AI

Ask AI answers questions about your AWS spend in a drawer that opens over the page you are on. You never lose your place on the Overview or Insights while you ask.

Opening it

  • Header: the chat icon next to Missions. It reopens the conversation you were in, or starts a new one in the current account scope.
  • Ask about this: Overview service-group drawers and every Insights section carry this action. It starts a new conversation scoped to the accounts that card shows, with a suggested question you can edit before sending.
  • Links: an open conversation adds ?ask=<id> to the address. Sharing or reloading that link reopens the same conversation for you. It never opens someone else's conversation: each one belongs to the user who started it.

Account scope

The scope chips under the title name the AWS accounts Ask AI reads. No selection means every account your business has connected. Change picks accounts. For a saved conversation the new scope is stored with it.

What a reply is based on

Ask AI does not run tools or query live AWS data during a chat. With each question it attaches stored SpendShrink datasets that match the words you used (for example the monthly service breakdown or this month's top expenses). Under every reply:

  • Grounded in lists the datasets that were attached.
  • "No stored account data was attached" means the answer is general guidance only.
  • The model chip shows whether the Flash or Pro model answered.

For an answer with each figure traced to the tool result it came from, use Missions.

Plans and limits

  • Without an active subscription, answers use the Flash model and cost overviews only. Savings opportunity details are not attached. The drawer says so under the composer.
  • Each user can make 30 Ask AI requests a minute. Opening a conversation, the list and the account names count too. When you reach the limit nothing is sent, your question stays in the composer, and Retry works after a minute.
  • If an account in the scope is no longer connected, the request is refused and the drawer asks you to change the scope.
  • If the model fails to answer, the reply says so with the provider's error code. Your question is saved; Retry asks it again.

Managing conversations

The list on the left shows your recent conversations. Use the menu on a row to rename it, or to delete it after confirming. A deleted conversation leaves your list and its link stops opening.

Keyboard

  • Enter sends, Shift+Enter adds a new line.
  • Esc closes the drawer.

MSP portal

In a customer's context the header shows the same icon. Conversations belong to that customer's business and are not shared with other customers.
